The breasts are modified skin glands, located on the upper part of the chest in both females and males. In females, it serves as the mammary gland, which produces and secretes milk to feed infants.
The nipple of the breast is surrounded by the areola (nipple-areola complex). The areola has many sebaceous glands, and the skin color varies from pink to dark brown.
A benign breast condition is one that is not cancer. These conditions often go away on their own or are easily treated. Because a few benign breast conditions can increase your risk of getting cancer in the future, you may need to have follow-up tests or examination periodically.
